5 Reasons Y You Should Pause Before Adding A Social Account

Social Media is one of the most important marketing tools any business has at its fingertips. If you have been utilizing social media for a while now. If it’s been working for you, you may be considering adding another platform account.

Here are 5 Reasons to pause before adding another Social Media Account:

  1. Is Your Audience Here?

Different platforms draw different audiences. Depending on what services you perform you will want to take a close look at your target audience and ask yourself if they use this specific platform. If not, than the time will not be well spent building up an account.

  1. What is your Content Strategy Plan?

Content takes up a lot of time. So what is your plan? You need a strategy of who will create content, whether content you already share on other platforms is suited for this new platform, and how much content you need to sustain this channel.

Opening up a new account is one step, but solely interacting with other users’ content is not enough, you have to bring something to the table as well.

  1. Can You Really Commit?

Consistency is what will alert users and followers alike of your presence.

You need a posting schedule and you need to stick to it. Do you have that time? If you don’t, a neglected account can do your business more damage. A dormant account says you don’t care and can’t commit to what you say you will – which is death to a company attempting to sell services.

  1. Is this Time Well Spent?

As you can tell, the time it takes to create content multiple times per week, interact, and maintain a whole new social media account, is considerable. Ask yourself, is this time worth it?

We are all for Social Engagement at Y5, however sometimes resorting to other tactics or other platforms is the best course of action. If you don’t have the time, or the reward of audience interaction is not worth the bacon, don’t be discouraged. There are ways around this is you feel you need this platform (like hiring people who do have the time. Ahem!).

  1. When the time comes, will you invest?

Budgets are something to consider when it comes to Social Media. While you need not be putting money into your accounts at all times there are times to put your money where your mouth is and blast a post out of the park.

A little boosting can go a long way with the right content. Being prepared for this is something to keep in mind.
